For common alarm faults

When you purchase an alarm with us we will supply you with both your alarm's manual, as well as all our contact details here at Delkey Systems. When we install an alarm we make sure it is ideal for your situation, location and personal needs. This can mean that no two systems are the same, but with our securely kept records of all installations, we can ensure that your alarm is correctly dealt with if problems occur.

Because we supply so many alarm systems, a full list of troubleshooting procedures would take forever to search through. Instead, here are some common faults that can occur over the lifetime of your alarm and their solutions.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If your alarm will not set or arm:

  • Does the alarm require you to enter your user code before it is set? If so, make sure to check that the user code you are entering is correct.
  • Have you left a door/window open? Doors and windows that are connected to the system will need to be checked that they are properly closed before setting your alarm. Obviously, the door which has been nominated as your exit route does not need to be closed.
  • Is there movement in the security zones you are trying to set? Pets still moving in the security zones can prevent your security alarm from setting, make sure the area is clear.
  • Is the alarm battery low? If the battery back-up power is very low, then the alarm may not allow you to arm until the batteries have been replaced. Although, if you are having your alarm serviced and maintained annually, you may find the mains power has been disconnected for a significant length of time instead, causing the alarm to loose power. Either way, with one quick call, we can come and replace your battery for you.
  • The alarm has been activated, but not reset. When an alarm is actviated, it will need to be reset before it is armed once again, even after the activation has been cancelled. You may be able to reset the alarm yourself with your personal user code (check your alarm's user manual), although, if this is not the case you may need to contact us for a special reset code.

If your alarm system will not unset/un-arm/deactivate:

  • Do not panic. Most people do and soon as their alarm goes off they believe that their home will be stormed by police looking to arrest a burglar! Obviously, this is not the case. If the alarm goes off and shouldn't have, even if you cannot deactivate it, you'll have a contact number for the monitoring office. Call them and tell them what is happening.
  • Enter your code again. In response to panic, it is easy to enter your code incorrectly. Take a deep breath and enter your code again.
  • If the system will not reset atall, simply contact us for assistance.

My alarm is beeping/flashing at random intervals:

  • The manual supplied with your alarm will be able to tell you what the various lights, beeps or messages mean.

My alarm activates with no apparent reason:

  • It is unlikely that there is no reason for the activation, it just isn't burglars entering your home. Your alarm system should keep a log of every activation, this can be used to narrow down what situation is allowing the system to sound the false alarm.

I have forgotten my user code:

  • Delkey Systems do not advise you to do this. Although, if you do end up changing your code, change it to something you will always remember. Or simply write it down as you change it, but always remember to keep the code in a secure and safe place.
  • If you DO forget your code, one of our engineers can come and reset the alarm for you and suppy you with a new code.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Of course, some of the time it is neccersary for one of our engineers to physically correct the fault at your home or business. Unlike other companies, this doesn't mean waiting around until an engineer arrives, you can be sure that we will have an engineer with you promptly.
